My First Roller Coaster

This special event happened over five years ago. It was my uncle's birthday and he decided to celebrate it at Six Flags. I was about twelve years old at that time and I've never gone on a roller coaster before. During the drive, I could not stop asking questions about the rides at Six Flags (Are the rides rough? Are they scary? etc.). Once when we got to the theme park my stomach felt weird, I started to panic a little once when I saw the height of the rides. So as I made line to my first ride,Scream, and I was trembling with fear. I saw a person leave the ride running toward the trashcan, the smell of vomit was really strong and disgusting. This made me feel even worse, I started to have thoughts that this was a horrible ride and the ending wouldn't be pleasant. As we approached our seats I was having minor panic attack an I started to breathe slowly to calm myself down. When the ride started I held on to the handle as tight as I could. Throughout the ride, it was a whole new experience for me. I left go of the fear and I actually started to have fun. When the ride ended I was excited to go on to the next, my first experience on a roller coaster was a really good one. I no longer fear roller coasters.

Google's New Innovating Creation

Google's Project Glass Eyewear has been the topic of this month. I've seen this new invention everywhere, on the news, on blogs, on articles, etc. Google glasses are the next thing for us in the future, imagine all the capabilities you would have in an iPhone but on your glasses. Its hands free and it reacts/ follows your every command from your voice. This seems very interesting at first, but it leaves me with the curiosity. I would try them on but just for a bit. I wouldn't use these glasses on a daily basis though; even though this is the next BIG thing in technology I wouldn't use it daily. In my perspective, this is allowing the device to remember and do everything for you. As humans, we are slowly losing the capability to remember or do things for ourselves since we're growing up in a type of environment where everything is handed to us. Also, this would hurt my eyes and I would get frustrated using it constantly.
My overall opinion about this isn't very accepting. This is all just going by way too fast. This is sort of an escape of reality, you're constantly being on this thing all day and you can't just put it down. This to me resembles how texting is, facebook, and any other "addicting" websites; its just a huge distraction and its in your face. This is just bad for our society, I believe it will make people's eyesight worse and it would be distracting. This is a great advance for technology but aren't we going too fast? Google's glasses are very neat and its a genius idea, but I wouldn't accept them or use them.

Free Write

Today I have to opportunity to write about what's on my mind. Nothing really is on my mind though. I like to shut it off for a bit and not think of my life outside of school. Late last night I baked cake pops though. Does that count? On Saturday, I went to MESA Day with my friends. And I don't want to present for English class today. That's pretty much on my mind.

Yesterday, my mom and I decided to do some bonding. We decided to bake chocolate coated cake pops. We saw how to make these delicious treats on YouTube. They were really easy but messy to make. I brought a couple to school today and my friends loved it. My friends and I decided to have a cooking/baking day this Friday. I am really looking forward to it. I know we will have tons of fun, well I guess that's all.

The PlayStation Vita

PlayStation Vita

The article that I read was about PlayStation’s latest gadget. The PlayStation Vita is Sony's second portable gaming console. It is similar to the PSP, PlayStation's first gaming console, but it has a lot more features. The PSVita has a five inch screen with two analog sticks. The PSVita weighs lighter than the PSP and is a bit smaller. What makes the PSVita so distinct from the PSP is that there is no need for disks! The PSVita runs on thumbnail sized cards. You could also download games online and it would be saved on the memory. The PSVita needs a memory stick if you’re going to download features. A camera is found behind the device and the speakers are found in the front. The PSVita is touch screen too!! Maybe it’s not as advanced as any other touch screen device but it seems to work. The PSVita can handle several applications on (open) while you’re playing all at the same time.

One feature about the PSVita that I didn’t like was the battery life. The battery lasts around five hours, without using wi-fi. I find this a little depressing. I like to play for hours on any portable console and I don’t want to be sitting next to a plug outlet charging and playing.
The PlayStation Vita will be available on February 22, 2012 for North America. The 3G unit costs $299.99 (sort of expensive). The Wi-Fi unit costs $249.99. The memory chip’s cost ranges from $20-$100 (depending on how much memory you want).

The PSVita seems like a great portable device but it’s not for me. I enjoy my PS3, and I’m happy with what I have. Maybe I’ll try it out in another time, but not now. For now, I love my PS3 and I’m committed to it.

The Journey of Computers

Computers have evolved over the last century. Starting from a enormous heavy computer that took up an entire room to a small computer that only takes up a quarter of your desk. Before there was only two major brands who conquered computer engineering, and those companies were Apple and Microsoft. Now, there is more of a variety when it comes to computers (there are more brands). The significant difference between now and then is that we have portable computers (tablets, iPads, and laptops). The sizes of the computers have min getting smaller/thinner and affordable.
There's always a question on my mind: How far will computers evolve? My hypothesis is, since technology is advancing in an extraordinary speed, computers would be more advanced, "smarter", and powerful. Computers would be advanced because they would have or hold new features that could help us in daily activities. There have been rumors of starting a "super computer" where the computer is smarter than the human brain. Another thing to be expected in the future is that computers would be come powerful. That technology and using computers would be in everything and conquer over everything. Everything is going to be touch or spoken, there's going to be no mouses. Everything will be more advances and more progress to help us. No one can foreshadow the future, all we know is that computers are evolving right before our very eyes.

The Nutrition Talk with Mr.Diaz

This Wednesday we had an interesting presentation about nutrition. This presentation was an eye opener, not only to me but to many in my class as well. Mr. Diaz came to talk to us about how nutrition is important to our bodies and lives. There were several concepts I knew because I took a nutrition class a few years ago. One thing did surprise me, milk. Personally, I hate drinking milk. It just tastes weird to me and its a hassle just to finish half a glass of milk. Cows are injected with hormones, to make production bigger and faster, and its found in meat, milk, cheese, etc. Milk does give our bones calcium, but it takes out a whole lot more than we but in. I haven't tasted milk in close to a year now. Instead of milk, I substitute it with almond or soy milk. I think it tastes better than cow milk.
Cancer is a huge part of my family. My great grandmother had cancer three times and she has had kimo twice. The third time my family and I sent her to Mexico for a "all natural, no medication" treatment. It really worked. When she had check ups the cancer cells were becoming smaller until it was practically gone. I do believe in natural remedies and not in medication. Medicine only treats symptoms, but any sickness does have to deal with nutrition.
After the talk, I went home and told the information to my family. I made it clear that nutrition is very important and if we want to live longer then we have to change our poor habits and be more active. Most of my family want to change their poor eating habits but we tend to fail once in a while. Its going to be a long road ahead of us but, a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.
Nutrition is a part of us; we just need to improve our poor decisions and make nutrition better for us. We only live once, so why not make it right?

"Musical Blog"

There once was a magical kingdom filled with unicorns and ponies who ruled the world. Everyone worshiped these magical beasts. They were so beautiful and glorious that there was a holiday to honor them. On this magical day the main unicorn would shoot a rainbow out of his horn. Then the unexpected happened; they were invaded by giant monkeys. They came storming in launching bananas and  jumping everywhere. They were the most ugly monkeys any one had ever seen. They were very scary looking and had sharp teeth. All the unicorns were very terrified and didn't know what to do, since they were so so sweet, they didn't even want to fight. In that case the unicorns decided to get some help from their step-brothers and sisters; the leprechauns. Now these two mystical creatures were not very fond of each other so the unicorns had to give them a peace offering so they could both defeat the giant monkeys. The unicorns offered the most valuable possession where they would team up to bet the ugly monkeys. They won the battle where all the unicorns and leprechauns was happy, but also very sad because many lives were lost. Some of the Leprechauns even lost their humanity and went insane. The unicorns started losing some of their power and didn't want to risk losing it to the wrong hands.  Then one new enemy arose, humans. Humans began to conquer and take over all the magical beasts. They abused them and used their powers for bad. It wasn't long before they seized to exist. Now, they are all called "imaginary" and "make belief" creatures. No one even knows they once existed. That is the humans most darkest secret, they killed all the magical beasts.
